Your DAAD fellowship may be over, but there are still plenty of ways for you to maintain your connection with DAAD and with Germany!

Are you looking for new ways to feel connected to Germany? Remember how disorienting it can be to move to a new country?

If so, volunteer to welcome newly-arrived DAAD fellowship holders from Germany to your area! Whether it is organizing a small cocktail party for several alumni and current grantees in your region, or just offering your contact information in case a grantee needs some local support, you can help provide these new arrivals with invaluable contacts in their new communities and thus ease their transition to the USA or Canada. At the same time, you can reconnect to the time you spent abroad and further genuine transatlantic understanding.

If you had a great time studying and/or researching in Germany, this is YOUR chance to tell your friends, colleagues, fellow students, or students you interact with about your experiences and give them useful information on how to enjoy their own fantastic, fulfilling academic stay in Germany. You are in an ideal position to encourage and inform your fellow students and/or colleagues about study and research opportunities in Germany. Please check out our Young Ambassadors and Research Ambassadors Programs for detailed information.

Organize an event for DAAD alumni, possibly also including current German grantees who are in your area and alumni of other organizations funding study in Germany (e.g. Fulbright, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Robert Bosch Foundation).

Upon application, DAAD offers support for events either organized by former DAAD scholarship holders or events in which former DAAD scholarship holders take part.
