Programme Description

The Grant Programme of the Berlin House of Representatives awards funding to young researchers of excellent academic merit in any subject area from the United States, the United Kingdom, France and the successor states of the Soviet Union. Eligible candidates are either researching Berlin and, therefore, German issues or the German international relations or they are working on projects requiring access to the Berlin research institutions. For almost an entire year, they are given the opportunity to participate in Berlin's scientific life and to get to know the culture, the way of life and the people in the German capital.

The Foundation assigns about 15 stipends each year which are worth EUR 1,100 for pre-doctoral students and EUR 1,630 for post-doctoral researchers over a period of 10 months, EUR 330 of which are for the accommodation at the International Student Center in Berlin. The support also includes a fixed allowance for the grant holder's travel to and from Germany.
