Programme Description

The scholarships are aimed at students and young professionals in the following disciplines: biology and molecular biology, biotechnology and bioinformatics, chemistry and biochemistry, pharmacy and computational life sciences. The Otto Bayer scholarship finances international students and young professionals with up to two years of experience who wish to study, research or do an internship in Germany. Candidates have a strong sense of commitment and motivation and submit an innovative research proposal. The programme offers tailor-made financial support which varies depending on the project. The funding is, however, generally sufficient to cover the living-, travel- and project costs.

  • bioprocess engineering and bioinformatics
  • chemistry and biochemistry
  • pharmacy and computational life sciences

Number of Scholarships

The Bayer Fellowship Programme consists of five different grants: the Otto Bayer Scholarship, the Carl Duisberg Scholarship, the Jeff Schell Scholarship, the Kurt Hansen Scholarship and the Hermann Strenger Scholarship.

Scholarship Value

The financing generally covers the cost of living, travel expenses and project costs. Each applicant is asked to set up an individual cost schedule to be approved by the Foundation Council.
