Programme Description

The Carl Duisberg scholarship offers individual support to committed students and young professionals in the disciplines of human and veterinary medicine, medical science, health technology, public health and health economics. It funds students and young professionals with up to two years of experience from Germany who wish to carry out a research project or enrich their professional experience abroad as well as international students who plan to study, research or do an internship in Germany. Candidates show a strong sense of commitment and motivation and submit an innovative research project. The level of support varies depending on the project. It is, however, generally sufficient to cover the living-, travel- and project costs.

Target Group

Students and young professionals with up to two years of experience from the following fields are invited to apply to:
  • human and veterinary medicine
  • medical science and health technology
  • public health
  • health economics

The Bayer Fellowship Programme consists of five different grants: the Otto Bayer Scholarship, the Carl Duisberg Scholarship, the Jeff Schell Scholarship, the Kurt Hansen Scholarship and the Hermann Strenger Scholarship.

Scholarship Value

The financing generally covers the cost of living, travel expenses and project costs. Each applicant is asked to set up an individual cost schedule to be approved by the Foundation Council.
