Programme Description

The programme is directed to young graduates in the fields of law, political science, economics, urban planning or journalism from the United States. Fellows are typically striving for leading positions with a long-term perspective and show sincere commitment to furthering the transatlantic relationship. Candidates with relevant work experience in the target fellowship field and good knowledge of German at the beginning of the fellowship are eligible for funding. Up to 16 accomplished American early-career leaders are given the opportunity to participate in German language training, attend a seminar series covering issues of German and European concern and complete two high-level work phases at leading institutions or enterprises in Germany over a period of several months. The fellows are granted a monthly stipend of up to EUR 3,700 in addition to travel- and accommodation expenses and financial support for accompanying children, if necessary.

Academic Requirements

degree course, usually graduate degree (Master's degree) in the areas of: public policy and administration, foreign and security policy, urban and regional planning, business, journalism and communications, law, or cultural and arts management
