German National Academic Foundation: Leo Baeck Fellowship Programme
In addition to financial support over one year, the programme offers an opportunity to exchange ideas and network. It is open to doctoral candidates of any nationality, studying at any university. All fellows remain at their home institutions, but get together for two workshops which are jointly organised by the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes and the Leo Baeck Institute London.
The fellows are granted a stipend of EUR 1,350 per month together with a research cost allowance of EUR 100. If necessary, a health insurance allowance of up to EUR 100 will also be included. In addition, allowances for fellows with children or for a (part-time) stay abroad are paid. For research trips and conference participation monthly supplements and travel allowances are available on application. To support doctoral studies abroad fellows may apply for a monthly grant, and, where applicable, a grant to tuition fees of up to EUR 10,000.
The funding complies with the guidelines on the promotion of talented junior researchers by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
After the first year, students enrolled at a higher-education Institution in Germany may apply for an extension, provided that the Studienstiftung has funding available.
