About DAAD Alumni

DAAD sees the end of your scholarship or support as the beginning of a long-term, active relationship, in which former scholarship holders become members of the DAAD alumni network. Our alumni work aims to:
  • continue contacts between alumni themselves and between alumni and their German host universities and the DAAD;
  • maintain professional, academic and personal ties with Germany by providing a regular information service;
  • contribute to deepening and extending academic exchange between the alumni's home country and the host country, thereby making a positive contribution to the internationalisation of higher education;
  • use the experience, knowledge and insights gained by alumni during their study and research stays in Germany to benefit the current generation of scholarship holders and others interested in studying in Germany in the future.
We are proud that there are currently more than 96 alumni groups worldwide. The DAAD Alumni Association of the United States, for example, elected its first official board members in 1998 and is now more than 550 members strong.
Announcing the DAAD Online Alumni Network - USA & Canada

Here's some good news for all DAAD alumni currently living in the US and Canada: DAAD New York has launched a new alumni-only online platform for networking and getting involved in alumni activities here in North America. It features a searchable membership directory, upcoming alumni events, information about regional alumni groups in North America, and other activities and opportunities for you to get involved.

Some of this site's pages that provide general information about DAAD alumni activities and services in North America are accessible to the general public. However, a number of prime features (including the alumni directory, bulletin board, regional listservs, and the ability to view posted jobs and housing) are available only to DAAD alumni in the USA and Canada who have a username and password for the website.

NEW! Visit this new online network now at alumni.daad.org
