Anna from the University of Denver in Colorado studied Political Science and German at the Humboldt University in Berlin from September to December 2004.
majoring in the International Studies and German. Recently I was nominated for the DU’s Outstanding Junior Award, inducted in Phi Beta Kappa, and recognized as a Lindner Scholar in Arts and Humanities. I am passionate about human rights and this school year after a service learning trip to Nicaragua I helped found an organization called Students for Positive Social Change that educates the students and community on Fair Trade. I am also very interested in foreign languages. I tutor Russian, German, and also volunteer tutoring English to recently arrived migrants. This fall I will be moving to Berlin to attend the Humbolt Universität where I will to learn more about German politics, examine Germany’s relationship with the former Soviet Block, and, of course, become fluent in German! I will conduct research on the attitudes of Germans towards foreigners and how these attitudes have altered since the reunification.
