Christopher G. Piecuch from the University of Rhode Island studied Physics and German at the Technical University of Braunschweig (TU Braunschweig).
Degree/Major: Physics B.S, Applied Mathematics B.S., German B.A.
Career Aspirations: teaching, research, public service
"After almost pursuing a career as a culinary artist, I enrolled at the University of Rhode Island as a mechanical engineering and German major in the fall of 2001. Realizing
that my true passion lay in pure theoretical science, I quickly switched majors from engineering to math and physics halfway through my first semester. After being encouraged to continue with my German studies as well, I became involved with URI’s International Engineering Program (IEP) and through the program am headed to the Technische Universitaet Braunschweig for the fall and to (hopefully) Stuttgart in the Spring for a research internship. In 2003, I was awarded the Barry M. Goldwater Fellowship for students in the sciences, mathematics, and engineering. After Germany
and URI, I plan to attend graduate school … of one sort or another."
