Laurie from the Illinois State University studied German at the University of Freiburg from October 2004 to July 2005.
She supplemented her major, German Education, with a minor in Mass Communications. Being raised in a family of teachers, Laurie plans to continue the tradition by becoming a teacher; however, she is open to any avenues that would allow her to work with her passion: German. She has been to Germany four times in the past three years. Laurie reenergized the German Student Association at Illinois State University, serving as president for her sophomore year, and she worked with professors to promote the program and help beginning students with their language skills. She has also volunteered at a local museum in Bloomington, IL, where she translated old German documents into English.
