FAQs
What is DAAD?
The Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst is a private, publicly funded, self governing organization of higher education institutions in Germany. DAAD promotes international academic relations and cooperation by offering mobility programs primarily for students and faculty, but also for administrators and others in the higher education realm. For more information, see About Us.

How do I apply for a scholarship?
For scholarships offered to American and Canadian students and faculty visit the link Scholarships.

Please read the eligibility requirements carefully to make sure that you are eligible. If you have questions or are unsure whether you are eligible, please contact us during our office hours.

If I am not a student of a university in North America, am I eligible to apply?
If you are a citizen of Canada or the United States of America and are studying abroad, in some cases you may apply to DAAD New York programs. If you are neither a citizen of the US/Canada nor are you studying in North America, then please refer to the ABOUT DAAD page on which links to branch offices for other regions can be found.
