For the past few years, DAAD has undertaken a wide variety of activities to promote engineering exchange between the US, Canada, and Germany. In addition to several VIP trips from top-ranking engineering institutions on both sides of the Atlantic, DAAD has offered:
- RISE (Research Internships in Science and Engineering), summer research internships for undergraduate students in engineering and natural science fields.
- RISE professional, summer research internships for RISE alumni and graduate students in engineering and natural science fields.
- RISE in North America, a reverse summer internship program placing German students who pursue a degree in biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences or engineering in research projects in the United States and Canada.
- DLR-DAAD Research Fellowships, the opportunity to conduct special research at the institutes of the DLR in Germany for highly-qualified foreign doctoral and postdoctoral students as well as senior scientists in the fields of Space, Aeronautics, Energy and Transportation Research.
- GAIST, institutional support for internships
- The Transatlantic Engineering Dialogue In this new and interactive online area, DAAD hopes to further facilitate the exchange of information and ideas between Germany and North America which will leaed to greater international opportunities for engineering students, researchers and professionals.
